Red Cross provides food, water and healthcare for East Africa drought survivors. More than than 10 million people struggling to get enough food in East Africa, the Red Cross is providing food, water and healthcare to the most affected communities. UN estimates suggest that 2.85 million people in Somalia, 32 per cent of the population require humanitarian aid. In drought-afflicted regions of Kenya, between 3m to 3.5m people have been severely affected. In Somalia, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies is responding to the severe drought by providing healthcare, food and water. The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is providing emergency food rations, water, seeds and tools. The British Red Cross has given £750,000 to the ICRC appeal; this will provide 8,225 families with a one-month ration of cereals, pulses and vegetable oil.

ISA-Child abuse vetting scheme cancelled as ‘draconian’

The original vetting plans covered one in four of the adult population The vetting scheme for nine million people working with children and vulnerable adults in England, Wales and Northern Ireland has been halted. Home Secretary Theresa May has announced that registration, due to begin next month, has been put on hold. There will be a review of the entire vetting and barring scheme, with a scaling back to "common-sense levels".

A companys reputation is crucial in attracting candidates - recruitment professionals have to align the relevant aspects of an employers brand to the candidates. Research by multi-sector recruiter Kelly Services found 37% of jobseekers rate an organisations reputation as a very important factor when thinking about joining them and 46% somewhat important.

The arrangements for overseas qualified nurses and midwives ended on 27 November 2008 - you can no longer apply to come to the UK or to switch into this category. If you have a job offer from a UK employer, you may be able to apply for permission to work here as a sponsored skilled worker.

Over the weekend of the 5th & 6th September Burnham Junior Football Club successfully hosted it's 16th Annual PreSeason Football Tournament. 90 teams from 30 different clubs across the region took part in the tournament covering all age groups from under 7 through to under 15. Nearly 4000 players and spectators attended the tournament and enjoyed perfect weather conditions and some great football.
